Spirit of the Arctic
In this vibrant gouache illustration, a brave Inuit and his loyal sled dogs venture across the vast snowy expanse of the Arctic. In my illustration, I used the gouache technique to achieve a vibrant, opaque finish. I began by prepping the paper with a light coating of water to ensure an even surface. Then, mixing the colors with water, I applied thin, smooth layers to create the color bases.
The gouache allowed me to easily correct any errors, since the previous layers do not completely dissolve with new applications. Additionally, I used brushes of different sizes to add precise details and varied textures. The result was an illustration that highlights each element of the design.
